EZZTHETIC

The artists’ collective Ezzthetic was formed in 2000 and stayed active until late 2005. Set up as a workshop in the heart of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, in North-East Italy, and led by a small team of musicians and sound artists, the Ezzthetic recording studio has attracted, during the course of its existence, actors and visual artists from different parts of the region, providing them with a ground to explore new relationships between their disciplines and music.

From these experiments many cross-platform works were created: digital videos, used as moving scores for live electro-acoustic performances; installations and sculptures in which sound and solid matter were given interdependent roles; and theatre works where speech was employed more as a sound element, alongside with hardware electronics and percussion instruments, than as a deliverer of concepts.
Masterminded by Leonardo Gementi (electronics) and Maurizio Ravalico (percussion), the Ezzthetic adventure has produced only two works of recorded music: "ezz_203 OIKOS", a hard-to-get collector edition audio cd included in an exhibition catalogue, and the "ezzthetic_ep", released in late 2005 by the F-ire label.
